Adhesivepropertiesofsoyproteinisolatedfromsoyproteinconcentrateanditsmodificationbydifferentplasticizers(glycerol,trimethylolpropane,polyethyleneglycol)wereinvestigatedonrubberwood.ViscositiesofallplasticizedSPIadhesivesshowedadecrease,comparedwithnativeSPIadhesives,suggestingthebreakageofpolymer-polymernetworkswiththeincorporationofplasticizers.AdecreaseinviscosityofthenativeSPIadhesiveswasalsoobservedwiththeincreaseinstoragetime.AdhesivestrengthoftheglycerolplasticizedSPIadhesiveincreasedfrom14.7to24.0MPafollowedbytrimethylolpropane(TMP)plasticizedSPIadhesive(~20MPa).However,incaseofpolyethyleneglycolmodifiedSPIadhesivestherewasnoincreaseinadhesivestrength.Therefore,glycerolandTMPisgoodplasticizerforenhancingadhesivepropertiesofsoyproteinonwoodsubstrates.
